Major Aussie Wind Farm by Siemens

GERMAN engineering company Siemens says it’s secured its initial contract to create a serious wind farm in Australia.

It said on Wednesday the power would offer electricity to some one hundred eighty,000 homes.

The New Zealand-based Trust Power utility would operate the ninety wind turbines some one hundred forty kilometers north of Adelaide. It said the price of the Snowtown II project was $A439 million.

Siemens, that gave no details of the deal’s price, said the wind turbines with a complete power generating capability of 270 megawatts would be operational by 2014.
